Solving Addition Problems

All About Addition

We are learning how to solve
addition story problems.
Check out some of our
activities from the week:

Meet "Addition Addy"
She is a fancy plus sign that helps us join two numbers.
We learned different words that relate to addition.
During Problem-Solving, we are learning different strategies.
We learned a strategy is like a plan. These strategies help us to solve and come up with solutions
to our math problems.
Our strategies this week:
-Count objects
-Draw a picture
-Use my fingers to count

We enjoyed reading different story problems from
the book If I Were a Plus Sign.
So, we decided to create a story problem of our own.
Then, we made an addition class book.
Here was our story...
We used the strategy, drawing a picture, to help us solve.
We created these cute little book pages to illustrate
our math story.

On Friday, we read Dr Seuss'
1 Fish, 2 Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish
We used goldfish crackers to solve our
own addition story problems.

We are still practicing writing the number sentence.
My stars are doing great with addition!
