The Moon

In Science, we wrapped up our sky observation unit.
We studied the moon last week.
We read The Moon Book by Gail Gibbons.

We wrote different facts we learned about the moon.

Harrison wrote: "The moon is in outer space."
Leah wrote: "The moon has craters." "The moon is gray."
"The moon has craters." "The moon is round."

Carson wrote: "The moon is the closest to Earth."

The Mitten by Jan Brett

We continued to practice our retelling skills this last week.
We read The Mitten by Jan Brett.
We "knitted" our own mittens and
used picture cards to retelling the story.

Esther is sewing her mitten.

Carson is sewing his mitten.

Leah is doing a great job!

We used picture cards to retell with our mittens.

Also, we compared both stories using a venn diagram.

Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We want to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
Since this is the season for resolutions and new
beginnings, we decided to write our own New Year's resolutions.
Check out some of our resolutions.

In 2014, we will:
-help others
-be kind to our friends
-brush our teeth more
-help the needy
-practice writing
-learn everyday
-help our siblings to be nice
-be more nice to others
-sleep more often

We read this wonderful story about a squirrel's New Year's resolution.
Enjoy!

Clouds

In Science, we are discussing different weather
conditions and sky observations.

This week, we read all about clouds.
Some of the texts we enjoyed about clouds were:

Little Cloud by Eric Carle
and
It Looks Like Spilled Milk

After reading both stories, we created our own clouds.
We made them into different objects; then, we used different
adjectives to describe them.

My cloud is feathery and puffy.

My cloud is white.

Problem Solving

I've got some great problem-solvers!!!

A Special Gift from Titus!

Titus went to see his grandparents in Florida over the holiday break.

about her job and the dolphins she works with.
