Our Winter Party

We had the BEST Winter Party ever!!!
We had a blast making cupcakes, playing Pin the Nose on the Snowman
racing with marshmallows, and creating a snowman.
So cool!!!

BIG thank you to our Room Mom, Shea Santone, for organizing and creating fun activities for our party.

Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who helped during the party.

Also, we want to thank all of YOU, our parents, for your generosity and support.
We LOVED every minute of it!
You guys are the best!

Lastly, I want to thank all of you for your kindness and generosity.
You spoiled me rotten with your thoughtful gifts and cards; which I will treasure forever!
Again, thank you for everything you have done for me and my class.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and enjoy this time off with your families.
I will miss my kiddos! Can't wait to see everyone again in 2013!

Our Gingerbread Hunt

Run, run as fast as you can!
You can't catch me!
I'm the Gingerbread Man!

Mrs. Shelby bought gingerbread cookies for us
to try, but they escape our classroom! OH NO!

So, we read a note they left and followed some clues
around the school to see if we could find them.
Guess what???
We FOUND our gingerbread cookies hiding in our classroom
after we went all over the school looking for them!

Getting ready to head out on the trail to find our COOKIES!!!

Here is a clue from the gingerbread men at the library...

We had to be very quiet and quick because
we didn't want the cookies to hear us coming and continue to run...
After we found our cookies, we graphed our first bite.
Guess what we found out from our graph...a lot of us ate the head first!
Check out our results!

The Polar Express

On Thursday, it was all about The Polar Express!
We even wore our PJ's to school!!!
We read the story, acted out a train ride, watched parts
of the movie, drank hot coco, and even
received a package from a special someone!!!

Our tickets for the train ride...

We are on The Polar Express...yes!!!

On our journey to the North Pole, we saw snow, polar bears playing,
penguins sliding on the ice, and Santa with his elves!!!
The best part--we didn't even have to leave our classroom!
We retold the story using pictures and made a hat!

We are drinking yummy, hot coco!

During the movie, we sipped hot chocolate.
It was so good!
Then, we got a call from the office saying that there was a special
package from the North Pole just for us!
What was in the package?
We received cold, gold bells from Santa!
We believed and guess what we heard...jingle, jingle!!!

Holidays Around the World

Our Social Studies lessons were all about holidays around the world.
We rotated in and out of each kinder classroom learning
about different celebrations that happen in these countries:

France
Holland
Mexico
United States
Germany

Here are some photos of the poinsettias we made from Mexico:

We read the Legend of the Poinsettia by Tomie dePaola.

3D Shapes

We are learning about 3-D shapes!!!
Cube, cylinder, sphere, and cone just to name a few!
We made 3-D shapes using Playdoh!
It was so much fun!!!

We graphed our favorite 3-D shape!

Guided Reading and Writing

I am so proud of my kiddos!!!
They are really coming along with reading and writing!
Sometimes during small groups, we write about what we are reading.
The boys are writing a sentence about going fishing!

Shapes

In Math Workshop, we are learning all about shapes!
We sorted shapes by their attributes.
We learned that some shapes have sides, points, and corners.
We discussed different items that are
the shape of a circle, square, rectangle,
rhombus, triangle, and oval.

Here are our class books we created
about a rectangle, square, circle, and triangle.

It once was a rectangle, but now it is a truck.
We took our shapes and made them into something new.

It used to be a circle, but now it is Earth.

It used to be a circle, but now it is a cookie.

It used to be a square, but now it is a present.

It used to be a triangle, but now it is a house (roof).
