Measurement and New Math Stations

We are learning how to measure!!!

We learned two important words:
-Measure
-Length-How long or short something is?

We talked about why we need to know how to measure.
-It helps us to know how long or short something is.
-Measurement helps us to know if something will find or not.
We applied it to our shoes...
How do we find out if they will fit our feet?
We have to measure!

So, we practiced measuring our shoes and comparing
our shoe measurements to a friend's.

Since we are in Kindergarten, we don't typically use rulers yet.
However, we can use different non-standard items,
like cubes or paperclips, to help us measure.

Check out our measurement activities.

We traced our feet.

We traced our friend's foot too.

Then, we used cubes to measure our feet and compare it to our friend's.

We practiced measuring from different points using different objects too.

NEW Math Stations:

We added the game Trouble to our math stations.
So fun!

How about some Cowboy Math?!?!
We are using beans to estimate and check.
We estimate how many beans it will take to cover the different pictures.
We cover it and then we count to check.
See if your estimation was right!!!
