Word Families

We started looked at words differently this week.
We learned that some words have a pattern to them
and we can find little words that we know inside of BIG words.

Take a look at our list of __at words:

10 Black Dots

During Math Workshop, we read Ten Black Dots.
Love this math story!!!
Donald Crews, the author, tells a story about different
amounts of dots that can create different things.

We tried it!
We each had a different amount
of dots to create something.
Brayden created a boat using 4 dots.

Jose made a sun, star, and the moon using 3 dots.

Madelyn used 4 dots to make headphones.

Harrison used his dots to make wheels on racecars.

Tanner made his dots into a snake.

Liam made a tank and used his dots for the windows.

Caroline made a Rekenrek, like we use in our number talks.

Tricky Turkeys!

Has anyone seen our turkeys???

Fun Run Attire

Just a reminder:

Please have your child wear these
items for the fun run on Friday:

-red "S" t-shirt
-comfy shorts/pants (depending on the weather)
-tennis shoes

Monster Math

We loved playing Monster Math!

We had to put # 6-10 in order using number cards.
Then, we had to count out a
set of eyes to match the number card for each monster.
We practiced "double-checking" our partners.

Examples of Disguised Turkeys

Here are some examples of ways you can disguise your turkey:

My 5th Half-Marathon

I love to share with my students and their families things that I am passionate about. One is being a teacher and getting to enjoy your children each day. But, two other passions of mine are running and making a difference in others' lives. Therefore, I will be combining these two loves by running the MetroPC Dallas Half-Marathon for the 3rd time.

This marathon benefits The Scottish Rite Children's Hospital here in Dallas. I believe in this great organization and the way they help children and their families.

I would like to invite you and your child to this event on Sunday, December 8th. Please come out and support me and this amazing organization.

Race start time is: 8:00 a.m.
Where: Downtown Dallas
