Comparing, Composing/Decomposing, and Creating Sets

In Math, we discussed how numbers are used to create sets.
A set is a group of objects.
We practiced making, decomposing, and comparing different sets of numbers.
Check out some of our activities:

We decomposed and made sets of different numbers using dominos.

We made sets of 3 during problem-solving.

We played 1 Less Bingo on Friday!
So fun!

Science: 5 Senses

We explored our 5 senses in Science!

We went on an observation walk to
 explore our sense of sight.

Here are some of the things we saw...

Some of our observations

We shared our observations with our share partners.

We had a taste testing!
We explored our sense of taste by eating
something sweet, sour, and salty.

Sweet: chocolate chip
Salty: pretzel
Sour: pickle

3 Ways to Read!

Good reader's can read 3 ways:

Writer's Workshop: Making a Character

In Writer's Workshop, we discussed how our
stories need 3 important things:

-characters
-a setting
-an event

This week, we worked on adding characters to our stories.
Also, we talked about how to add detail to our characters.
Check out some of our anchor charts:

Who can be a character?

Different character bodies to use

NO more STICK PEOPLE! :)

Cool hair-styles to use

Fun legs to add to our characters

Human characters have arms too!

Reader's Workshop Happenings!!!

We are ROCKSTAR readers!!!
I am so proud of my stars!
We are building our stamina and practicing good reading skills.
By Friday, we were reading for 6 minutes!
Check out some of our "happenings" in RW this week:

We started using our Ready, Set, Read! reading mats this week.

These mats help us to keep our books organized.
It helps us to know what books we have read and
the ones we still need to read.

We start on the green side and move our books to the red side when we have read them.

We met our first STAMINA goal this week!
5 minutes! YIPPY!
So our reward was to read with safari glasses!
Don't my little stars look so cute!?!?!

We started BUDDY READING this week too!
It is so much fun to read with a friend!
Good readers need help sometimes practicing
their reading skills and building their stamina.
Who better than to help us but our reading friends!

Below is our EEKK song that we sing to help
us remember how we sit during Buddy Reading.
