Avishi's Trip to India
I wanted to share a few photos of Avishi's trip to India. She traveled with her family over the holiday break to India. Her parents told me they had planned to visit the Taj Mahal, but due to weather, they were not able to do so. Therefore, they visited a tomb that was built by the King for his father and it looks a lot like the Taj Mahal. This is in Delhi.
The other photos are from their farmhouse in their native town. Her family enjoyed their trip and they hope to go back soon.
I want to thank Avishi and her family for sharing! Enjoy her photographs!!!

Addition and Subtraction
In Math, we discussed and practiced addition and subtraction word problems. We made two circle maps of addition and subtraction words.
Also, we played Roll and Count using different word problems. It was fun!!! Get your child to show you how to play at home!
Materials needed: dice, a plus/minus flip tile (you can use a coin with a plus/minus sign taped to it), a 10's frame or any type of mat for your child to place their counters on, and some type of manipulative(beans are great!). Make up fun story problems and have your child solve them!

Writing and Car Crashes!
During Writer's Workshop, we discussed the importance of using spaces between our words when we write. We talked about how we do NOT want our words to have a "car crash." A "car crash" is when all of our words are close together, making it difficult to read. We want our writing partners to be able to read our stories with ease.
On Friday, we sorted different writing pieces into two groups--readable and unreadable.
