All About Me-Writing

My writers are writing "All About" booklets!
Check our "expert" circle map and some of our booklets.

We started by writing a book all about ourselves.
We used our favorite things to help us come up with
different topics for each page.

"I like penguins because they are funny."

"I like gymnastics because I like cartwheels."

"My favorite animal is a dog because they are fluffy."

"I like to ride my bike because I go outside."

2-D Shapes

In Math Workshop, we started exploring and discussing 2-D Shapes.

We discussed different attributes of each shape:
-square
-circle
-triangle
-rectangle

We went on a hunt around our classroom to find objects
that are in the shape of these shapes.
We used post-it notes to record our findings.

The next day, we played a shape game where we
had to create each shape using our bodies.
The kiddos LOVED this game!

Friday, we used pretzels and marshmallows to create our shapes.
The pretzels were the sides and the

Night and Day

Science was all about night and day.
We discussed how the earth moves around the sun and moon
to create day and night.
We talked about things we see during the night/day time.
Check out our t-chart of different things we see:

Next, we made murals of things we see at night and during the day.
I love these!
My kiddos are super creative!!

It's a tent under the stars at night.

A snake comes out during the day, but bats come out at night.

Owls come out during the night time.

Coyotes come out during the night time too.

Greater than, Less than, Equal to

In Math, we reviewed and continued our practice on composing
and decomposing numbers. We also compared different numbers.

We played the game, Greater than, Less than, Equal to.
We had to roll a number.
Next, we made a number greater than, less than, and equal
to our number that we rolled. It was fun!
Our partners had to check us afterwards!

Reading Partnerships

We continued our reading partnerships; however,
we all got NEW reading buddies after the break.
Also, we started using our partnership menus
to help us build our stamina and practice
our good reading skills.
