To practice our predicting skills, we read
There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves. It is a story about an old lady that swallows some leaves, a shirt, some pants, a pumpkin, and a stick, and so on. At the end, she sneezes--Achoo! We predicted what we thought would happen to all of that stuff she swallowed when she sneezed. Check out our predictions:

My readers were right....all of the "stuff" she swallowed turned into
a scarecrow at the end of the story!
