Writer's Workshop

This week, we began "true" Writer's Workshop. In Kindergarten, writing is so important and goes hand and hand with reading. Check out some of the things we have been working on:

College Week: September 15th-19th

COLLEGE IS THE TICKET TO YOUR FUTURE!
September 15th – 19th
Dear Parents,

Robertson is having a College/Career Week! All FISD schools will be celebrating
during this week. The purpose is to teach our students that preparing for a higher
education begins now by setting goals and forming good academic habits. Ms. O’Hearn
will be discussing College and Careers in Guidance this month. Our focus will be
setting goals and working to achieve them.
There will be fun activities throughout the week that emphasize doing your best
in school, the importance of graduating from high school, and taking that next step to
college. We encourage all to participate!

MONDAY – Listen to College Spirit Songs as we start our day.
Each morning we will play a school song from a different College
Band. Discuss with your Teacher where they went to College!!!

TUESDAY – Go future Lone Star Rangers! (wear navy or silver
to support your future high school). Find out where Mr. Iorio and Mrs.
Grace went to college!!!!

WEDNESDAY – Team up for college! Wear your
favorite College Tee-Shirt or colors.

THURSDAY – Look to your bright future! (wear sunglasses)

FRIDAY- Wear your school spirit shirts to show how bright your
future is!!

Dot Math

What can you do with 10 black dots?
We read Donald Crew's 10 Black Dots.
Mr. Crew uses dots in his story
to make his illustrations.

So, we got creative!
 Each student received
an amount of dot stickers
(0-5) to create a dot picture.
Check out how creative my friends are!

Max used 2 dots to create basketballs.

3 dots are a snowman's buttons

Ojas used 3 dots to make a snake.

Scotty used 2 dots to make Olaf's feet.

Brooke used 4 dots to make her flowers.

Meet our Book Buddies!
We met our 3rd Grade Book Buddies on Friday!
Every month, we will read with our book buddies.

Who is a Reader?

Who is a reader?
EVERYONE!

We are learning that reading is all around us!
We are all readers.
The class discussed things we can read
and why we like to read.
Check out our anchor charts:

Making 5

In Math Workshop, we are making sets using #0-5.
We played the game Roll a Number.
Partners take turns rolling a dice and building the
number they rolled. Then their partner makes their number.
Lastly, we compared which number is more/less.
We lined up our two towers from least to greatest.
The class did great!

Book Boxes

We got our BOOK BOXES this week!
YAY! We love to read!

As good readers, we picked our "just-right" spots
around the room and practiced reading.
We are working on building our reading stamina.
We read for 4 minutes on Friday!
Way a go-Star Readers!!!
