More about Pumpkins...

During Pumpkin Rotation, we painted an illustration to match our
poem-Five Little Pumpkins

Five Little Pumpkins

Elijah is adding a stem and vines to his painted pumpkins.

We learned so much about pumpkins during Pumpkin Rotation!

During Science, we measured our class pumpkin
and checked to see if it would sink or float.
What do you think happened?

It FLOATS!!!

Check out our circle map that describes pumpkins.

Exciting News!

Last week, Lathyn's big sis came to read to our class!!!
She did a great job!

Our friend, Luke received a leadership award from Mrs. Yates on Thursday!
Luke has shown wonderful leadership skills and kindness at Phillips!
We are so proud of Luke!

Some of Our Math Activities

We played a couple of new math games this week.
See what we can do:

The first one is called Flip and Record.
We are flipping over number cards and then recording
that number by coloring in the correct corresponding
number of boxes/frames on a ten-frame mat.

Next, we reread the wonderful book, Chrysanthemum.
Then, we discussed how many letters are in her name.
We counted 13 letters!!! WOW!
We placed her letters in our Counting Jar
to practice with during stations.

After we counted her letters, we wrote our names on a sentence strips
and cut our letters a part. Next, we counted the letters in our names
and recorded it on a piece of construction paper.

Joke Box

Joke Box

I need your help with a little something. I want to create a Joke Box for my kids to use for our brain breaks. Although I know it is important to be learning every minute of the day, research has shown that the human brain does respond more and better when given mental breaks to recharge and reset. I feel like a great way to give my students a quick recharge is to tell a joke. :)

If you and your child could come up with a "kid" appropriate joke to write down and send in to place in our joke box, I would really appreciate it. I know the kids will love them!

Please send these joke any time and throughout the year. We will use these all year long. Have fun with your child finding these too! :)
