Environmental Print Items
Parents,
Today, I sent home a note regarding Environmental Print items and labels for our classroom environmental print word wall. We will begin collecting these labels to start our word wall and will continue to collect until next Friday. Please sent whatever "EP" labels you come across. I told the kids about it too...so their eye's are looking out for them as well.
Some great items can be found on the front of cereal boxes, labels of canned food, coke can boxes, menus and packaging from restaurants. Please just make sure these items or labels are clean before you send them. We appreciate all of your help! :)
We are learning so much about letters, words, and print awareness---this will just enhance our literacy foundation and build meaningful connections for our students!

Growing Readers and Writers
In Kindergarten, we want to build a foundation for our students to grow and succeed.
One way we do this is by creating a love for reading and writing.
This week, we made our very first class book, read
many wonderful stories, and wrote about ourselves.
Here are some of our wonderful creations:

We got to explore our classroom book boxes.![]() |

| Tagg is reading "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie." |
![]() |
| Aiden is enjoying a great book! |
![]() |
| Reading is so much fun! |
In addition to books, we want kids reading
other literature pieces, such as poems.
Our poem this week was called "School."
We illustrated our poem and then placed it into our poetry journal.
We went on a LETTER HUNT!
After reading Chicka Chicka, Boom Boom, we wanted to find more letters.
We used a circle map and magazines to find our first initial.
See some of my friends fantastic letter circle maps!

| Addison is finding the letter "A." |
![]() |
| One friend is looking for "T." |
We read Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten!
It was such a fun book!
Then, we created our own class book about our friends.
We used our first letter of our names and came up with something
we liked that started with the same letter.
Lastly, we put it all together to complete the sentence.
![]() |
| T my name is Tavin and I like the Titanic. |
![]() |
| S my name is Sophia and I like seashells. |
![]() |
| L my name is Lathyn and I like lizards. |
![]() |
| A my name is Addison and I like apples. After we created our book pages, I put them all together into a class book that will be in our library nook for the kids to read everyday. |

Dismissal
Parents,
Thank you for your patience this afternoon with dismissal!
We are still working the bugs out of our dismissal process.
At dismissal time, older siblings walk to the Kinder pod and pick up their younger sibling. They then go to their designated dismissal spot together.
Carpool: Please display your carpool tag in the passenger side visor. Please do not put these on the dashboard, it is difficult for us to see. The name of the student should be bold in a dark color, written large enough for us to see from a distance.
Walkers: Walkers will be out on the side of the building by the playground. We have 2 Kinder teachers that will be walking out these students, Ms. Martin and Mrs. Nixon.
Please verify with your child’s teacher the dismissal place you would like them to go by Friday. It is important for all students to follow a consistent dismissal process each day. We understand that things come up, however, since walkers and carpool are dismissing in different places it is vital that we know where to send them.
Thank you again! We are working hard to keep your child safe!

Reminders for tomorrow
Just a few reminders for the first day:
Our day begins by 7:50. Please make sure your child is there by this time.
Pack an extra set of clothes labeled with your child's name in a gallon size baggie---Just in case we have an accident.
Snack--please make sure it is a nutritious and "quick to access" snack. Water only please for a drink. The small water bottles are great!!! Label it "snack" so we don't get confused as to what is intended for lunch.
Dismissal---please make sure your child and their sibling (if needed) knows how they are getting home. I have noted most of everyone's way that they will be going on the first day. If something changes, please email me by 1:30.
We are looking forward to a wonderful first day! Please be patient with us as we work our first day jitters out. Our campus is hoping to provide all of our families with a smooth transition. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. See you all in the morning! Wear your best smile!!!!
